Currys PC World

60-62 Northumberland St, Newcastle upon Tyne NE1 7DF, UK – 0800 276 1373

Every time I go to Currys PC World, particularly on Northumberland Street in Newcastle, there are very few customers and a lot of staff. I never spend long in there as they appear to change the content very little. Most of that content is outdated. For example, I have had a Nikon B700 camera for well over a year yet Currys only sell the Nikon B500 camera which is several years old. The other "bridge cameras" are similar in that they are now quite old models. Another reason I leave the shop is that the staff hassle you to buy something. I normally get about three staff asking me if I want anything in particular. The staff also have little knowledge about their products. I usually then go to John Lewis who have a much better/newer range of products and a lot more expertise. I am surprised that Currys PC World can survive in today's market, selling outdated, expensive goods that you can buy online a lot cheaper.

Small store with only limited items stocked due to town centre location. Very helpful staff who demonstrated well the various features of the cordless vacuum cleaners I was looking at. Will visit a Currys superstore next in case they have another model not carried by this shop.

Picture Canning Ltd

Unit 7, Hawick Crescent Industrial Estate, Newcastle upon Tyne NE6 1AS, UK – 0191 265 0061

Very helpful folk and very accommodating, plus they take feedback well and go all out when servicing a job.

Always hire my video kit from here and the service is brilliant. The staff there are knowledgable and happy to answer any questions I may have. The prices for hire are competitive and you always get more than you're expecting (extra batteries, cards etc). More than happy to recommend them! Dan - Dan Aziz Productions

London Camera Exchange

76 High St, Gosforth, Newcastle upon Tyne NE3 1HB, UK – 0191 213 0060

I’m extremely happy with my second-hand Canon SLR that John recommended. Thank you! This is a fantastic camera shop. They have a great selection of new and second-hand equipment; the staff are always friendly and very knowledgeable.

Been browsing their shop windows for years now. Bought mainly second hand and its been top quality and well priced. Sadly there are hardly any camera shops left around Newcastle now. Well worth the trip.
